According to the SOP, what is the required method for inspectors to view the roof?

Inspectors are required to view the roof from the surface by walking on it to ensure a thorough examination. This method allows inspectors to closely inspect the condition of materials, identify any potential issues, and assess the overall integrity of the roofing system. Walking on the roof gives inspectors a direct perspective, enabling them to observe details that might not be seen from a distance or through other means, such as binoculars or telephoto lenses.

Using binoculars from ground level or a telephoto lens would restrict the inspector's ability to conduct a comprehensive assessment. Viewing from inside the building looking up may provide some information, but it does not afford the inspector the opportunity to evaluate the roof's condition directly. As such, the most effective and standard practice for roof inspections is to access the roof surface itself.
